Creating Your Own Info Products
July 23, 2008
When you get started as an information marketer, you have some choices to make. One of the first will be whether to create your own products or to license or “use” someone else’s.
I suggest you create your own.
Not that there is anything wrong with licensing or affiliating with other people’s products. It’s just that when YOU own your content, you are in greater control of the process and you are building a business that will have some equity value.
The products YOU create will be saleable at some point in the future if you ever decide to sell your business or a portion of it.
Creating your own info products can be intimidating if you have never done it before. When you get started, you are faced with some choices. Should you do a book or ebook? Should you first do an audio or video product? Or, should you do some kind of event like a seminar to get started.
My suggestion for the novice is to do an audio program.
Within the category of audio, you now have some choices. You can do one of three things to create your audio program:
1. Sit in a studio (or somewhere like a studio) and talk into a microphone.
Even if you are a VERY gifted speaker, this is tough to pull off effectively. Even someone like Tony Robbins is tough to listen to doing a “solo” act where he is talking to you via a studio recording.
2. Record a seminar or other event.
This is a good option provided you make sure that you repeat the questions when asked and to have good recording equipment set up that will allow the listener to clearly hear the audience questions.
3. Record an interview.
This is my suggestion for what MOST people should do first. Although many people aren’t expert interviewers (if you want to learn HOW to interview people like a pro go to: http://www.ExpertInterviewer.com), it’s a good place to start. You can either do it in person or over the phone and you can ask someone a list of questions that you have pre-prepared.
Creating Information Products
July 22, 2008
Creating information products can be both fun and lucrative. I have been doing it myself for close to 25 years. You can take what you know and turn it into cold, hard cash.
First thing to ask yourself is: What do I know how to do?
Is the information that I have something that others would be willing to pay for? If you conclude that the answer is YES, then hop on the bandwaggon and get it done.
Information products can be both very fun to do and very lucrative.
Want to learn HOW to do it? It would be great to have you at one my information products training events. Take a look at both of these sites:
www.InfoProductsSeminar.com and www.FredInfoBootcamp.com
I look forward to seeing you at one of these events!
Sell Information Products
July 21, 2008
You need to sell information products! Why? Because you need to not just sell your inventory, but your brain power as well.
Whenever I meet someone, I always ask them what they do. When I find out what their talents are I’m always amazed at how much GENIUS they’ve accumulated in their field. They know a LOT about what they do.
One problem.
They have never tried to sell their single most valuable asset. The knowledge that they’ve accumulated in their field.
I always tell people that they need to take the specialized knowledge that they’ve got sitting on the shelves inside their heads. An expert in a field has a valuable asset. They have the “how to get it done” savvy that few others in their field have.
In order to turn that knowledge into cash they need to take their brain power and turn it into an information product. One that others will gladly pay for because people want to learn how to do what THEY do.
You can do the same. Take all of your knowledge and put it down in outline form. If you like, put every idea onto a separate index card. Then organize them. Decide what the best way to teach your information is and do it.
You’ll make money from what you know.
Learn Information Marketing
July 20, 2008
I don’t care what business you’re in. You need to learn information marketing.
If you want to create some additional streams of income, learning how to market and sell information products is key.
Learning information marketing will take some time. If you’ve never done any selling of info products, you’ll need to learn.
Basically, it’s all about taking your knowledge and packaging it.
I really believe that everyone needs to learn this system. It’s a system that I’ve been teaching for close to 25 years. First offline and then ONline.
So, no matter what you do, go out and learn information marketing. It will serve you well no matter what you do.
It’s all about showing YOUR clients, or potential clients that you are an expert in your field. Do that and you’ll have people beating a path to your door. But how? Through creating a line of information products related to your field. Doing this will make YOU look like the definitive expert on a topic. With that will come more clients than you can handle
Now, go do it!
Information Product Selling
July 19, 2008
Information product selling is a great business to be in. While other people are involved in “brick and mortar” businesses which create lots of overhead, we do not.
Information product selling is about finding (or creating) great and useable information that we make available to others for a fee.
Luckily, if the information we are selling are in digital form, our margins are amazing. While traditional businesses are lucky to buy something for $1 and sell it for $3, information marketers often sell something for $100 that cost $1 to manufacture.
What a country!
Info product marketers are all about selling things that cost very little but are worth a lot.
Information Marketing Training
July 19, 2008
A lot of people claim that they can give you information marketing training. Heck, there are even people who were NEVER in this field a few years ago who are now out there claiming to be information marketing trainers. Ridiculous!
I do an event any where from 4 to 6 times a year in Las Vegas that concentrates very specifically on teaching people the techniques to run an information marketing business.
Information marketing training should be conducted by someone who is not just a successful information marketer themselves, but someone who is an EXPERT teacher. There are VERY few of those people out there.
I’ve seen people who are great at making money for themselves in the field of info product marketing but can’t teach worth a damn. Why?
Because they are two very different skills.
I suggest you read the copy I’ve created at two sites:
and
These are two separate events. One concentrates on giving you the guidelines and general principles. The other concentrates on giving you a week long experience in which you actually create your own info products.
I suggest you attend both!
Information Marketing Techniques
July 17, 2008
There are many very important information marketing techniques you need to use if you want to be a successful info product marketer.
One of the most important information marketing techniques is understanding the importance of a squeeze page. This is a page where you attempt to get people to give you their email address.
People are becoming more and more wary of giving up their personal info. Who can blame them. They get unethical information marketers who barage them with all kinds of crap after they sign up.
This information marketing technique is critical to your success.
Testing is the only way you’ll know which type of squeeze page will work for your market.
There are two basic types of squeeze pages. Those with long copy and those with short copy. Which one should you use? The one that works. Easy to say but it’s 100% accurate.
Try them both out on your visitors and see which one closes the greatest percentage of people to opt in to you list. After a sufficient number of people who visit, it will be easy to see which works best. Use that one for your list.
Remember, it will vary depending on your market. There is no ONE right way for all markets.
Information Marketing Secrets
July 16, 2008
I will frequently get asked if there are any reall secrets in the information marketing business. The answer is yes AND no.
There are certainly some ideas that few people who market and sell information products are using. If that’s the criteria for deciding if something is a secret, then I guess there are some information marketing secrets.
In reality, it’s all about having a system in place to market and sell your information products.
So when people ask me about information marketing secrets I first ask them if they have their SYSTEMS in place. Without systems, any secrets are useless.
Assuming your information marketing business HAS the systems in place then I suppose you can talk about a number of secrets that exist.
The BIGGEST secret of information marketing is that you make money from your list. Build a list of buyers and potential buyers and you’ll be set for life. The majority of online marketers are pretty haphazard with list building.
They get names but they rarely cultivate them properly.
How many times have you gotten on a list only to be BOMBARDED with offers every other day. This is not the way to build a list and a relationship with a list. So, the biggest secret is to build a list by FEEDING them with valuable content on a regular basis.
Information Marketing Products
July 16, 2008
Whenver I do a seminar or speak at an event, people are always asking me about which information marketing products they should create and market.
My answer is the eventually you need to have a LINE of information products related to your topic. The reason for this is that people learn using different modalities of learning.
Some people like to read as their primary means of getting knowledge. For those folks you will need to produce books and ebooks.
Other folks prefer to learn by listening. They are audio learners. For them you’ll want to have your material available in audio form. Whether it’s traditional CD audios or mp3s in either physical or downloadable form you’ll want to have your info products available in this form to satisfy them.
Still other folks want to learn via video. These folks need to be given video material in order for them to learn. This will require that you produce videos that relate to your topic. This isn’t easy the first few times you do it, so I suggest you get help from a professional the first few times.
You’ll also want to have your material available in experiential form. This means you’ll need to produce seminars and events to train people in the info products area where you are an expert.
Produce your info products using all the different modalities and you’re on your way to a successful info products business.
Information Marketing Business
July 15, 2008
An information marketing business is VERY different than an information marketing hobby. In one instance you are doing something just for fun. In the other you are trying to generate a profit.
Creating a sustainable information marketing business requires that you establish and keep systems.
There are a number of systems you will need to have. When I first got started marketing information products online, I ended up with a mish mash of different kinds of software.
Luckily there is now a place where you can get it all together in one place. The place to find it is at www.WebMarketingMagic.com. This one piece of software will handle any and every need of a new or established information product marketer.
You’ll find:
An online shopping cart
An autoresponder system
A digital delivery system
A built in affiliate module
A digital delivery module
All of these elements are essential to running your information products business. AND, it’s a whole lot easier to get them in one package as opposed to trying to get all the necessary components from different providers.
Additionally, you’ll want to have a place to reserve your domain names. I highly recommend that you use: www.UltraCheapDomains.com. You’ll get the best prices and you’ll be very happy with their service.
To get your information marketing business off the ground, these are some of the basic items you will need.
