Information Marketing Training

June 23, 2008

I’d like to once again remind you of a great event to help you to create and market your own information products. I’m sorry, but it is my event I’m talking about.

We have now done 4 of these and the 5th one is going to happen in September in Las Vegas. It’s the Fred Info Bootcamp and I hold it 4-6 times a year at my house in the Las Vegas area.

I highly encourage you to take a look at the site and see if it fits in your schedule. If it does, please make it out to learn all the particulars about how to become an information entrepreneur.

How to Write Ebooks

June 23, 2008

When I first started out selling info products I HATED writing. Not only did I hate it, I don’t think I was very good at it. Like most things, I figured out that I got pretty good after YEARS of practice.

I don’t think anyone can become a great writer. I DO think that anyone can improve their own writing skills. If you’re reading this blog post right now and you’re an information marketer, this is a skill you have to learn to be truly successful.

Writing ebooks is the same AND different from writing physical books. I have written a bunch of physical books and will continue writing more of them. Ebooks are great because you can get an idea for one tomorrow, and within a week, it can be out and getting sold.

Sound too good to be true? It’s really not.

Writing ebooks is all about getting to the point and delivering great how-to content. That means that your ebook doesn’t need to be of epic length. I’ve seen VERY good ebooks that were between 20-30 pages. As long as they fully addressed the topic and gave someone the right way to do something they WORKED.

It’s all about the outline for me and I think for you as well. A good outline will help you to write ebooks quickly and easily.

First, brainstorm every idea that you have about your topic. Some people will put each idea on a separate index card. Then put all those cards on the living room floor. Take them and separate them in to categories. Then decide if one card should be BELOW another. Do that when you find what is really a SUB TOPIC to a major topic.

Once you’re done with the index cards you have your outline. Then and only then is when you should start writing.

Writing ebooks will be much simpler if you follow these simple steps!

How to Sell Information Products on the Internet

June 23, 2008

When I first got started (back in the “old days”) marketing information products, there was no internet. At least there wasn’t one I was aware of! I did all of my marketing OFF line. Now that’s all changed. It’s a whole lot easier to get your info products business up and running now.

The biggest single issue you have to deal with online is that people are incredibly skeptical. They don’t know who you are and whether or not you’re trying to scam them. To help you in that area, I suggest you do the following:

1. Get great testimonials (preferably) video that you can post on your site. Make sure that you put the person’s name and if possible an email address and even a phone number for them. If you do put one or both make sure to put a little note by it that says: “The email and phone numbers here are REAL. If you do call or write the people, please be very respectful of their time.”

2. Offer some high quality content for free. In my case that is my 5 free ebooks. Make sure that you give away something of real value or people will be skeptical of anything you do in the future.

3. Offer a relatively inexpensive front end product. Given that most people don’t know who you are, introduce them to you and your “talent” by letting them get something reasonably cheap. Make sure that anything that you sell folks makes them feel like they got 10X what it was worth.

4. Give out your phone number (if your price point is high enough to justify it) to let people call and talk with you first, before buying.

Those are just a few things you can do to get people to BELIEVE you online. I suggest you do all of them, and do them right away!

Info Products Bootcamp

June 10, 2008

We are now just about done with the Fred Info Bootcamp #4. It has been another collection of great folks with different backgrounds in the information marketing field. All of them have worked very hard and are now in the process of finishing everything up to get their info products business into full gear.

Today Sabrina Brick is showing them how to set up a Google Adwords account so they can test their sites to  see what kinds of conversion rates they are getting. Two of the participants are also setting up blogs through www.Blogger.com. This will help them with their organic search engine listings.

Info Products

June 5, 2008

As someone who sells a lot of info products, I’d like to share with you how I do my audio interviews. I use a piece of equipment I picked up at B & H Photo. It’s called a Marantz PMD 660. I use either that or another similar product, the PMD 670. Both record onto a flash memory card.

The microphones I use are some fairly standard Shure corded mics. As long as you have decent mics (ones which cost over $50, you should be OK) and good mic stands you’ll be good to go.

The most important part of this process is HOW you do the interview. Take a look at a seminar I’ll be doing!

Information Products Creation

June 5, 2008

I wanted to talk about videos. I’ve got a guy at my place right now who is the “Wolfgang Puck” of raw foods. He is a raw foodist with an incredible knowledge of his topic and the look and desire to become a STAR! While we were driving in the car today we had a discussion about the info products we are creating together. I’m serving as their info products coach.

I told him to take any idea that he had about a raw food topic and write it down. Then put down a short list of the things he should talk about when we eventually shoot the video. I told him NOT to be concerned about how long the video would come out. If it was good solid content and only ran 18 minutes, so be it.

The problem is NEVER the length of the info product, but how it is represented to the potential buyers of said info product! As long as you don’t tell people it’s an hour and give them 22 minutes, you’re fine.

As an information marketer I concentrate my efforts on cranking out as much great material on any topic that I’m producing, either for myself or others.

Selling Info Products

June 4, 2008

I’m about to start another one of my Fred Info Bootcamps. This 1 week event is geared to helping anyone who wants to building an information marketing empire. We’ll be concentrating all the different aspects of information product marketing. Everything from books to ebooks to audios and videos. We’ll also be talking about software and membership sites.

All of these items require a very detailed outline to be done right. The better your outline, the better your products will be. Then you’ll need a highly competent interviewer to help you create your products. This in addition to an info product coach.

Info Marketing Referrals

June 4, 2008

In the information marketing business, a key to success is making money using a variety of sources. Most info product types concentrate on their own products. While you should certainly be doing your own products, it also make a lot of sense to sell other people’s products that you like and believe in.

I’ve set up a site that is a perfect example for how you should do this. Take a look at my Fred Sent me site. Feel free to copy it exactly and use it as your own. You can certainly put MY affiliate links on YOUR site, but that would give ME the money. I’m good with that if you like!

Information Product Coach

June 4, 2008

I just got a question from one of my clients. She asked if I felt there was a difference between the term: “info product coach” and the term: “information product coach.” To me, they are one in the same. I just think that the term information is too long to write and therefore gets abbreviated. That’s my take on the matter.

Information Product Strategies

June 4, 2008

If you’re an info product producer, there are a lot of ways to approach your market. Some people try and sell you everything they’ve got right away. I think this strategy is dumb. And, more recently, it’s not working. Instead, as an information marketer I would suggest you give people some high quality FREE material.

Give them great free stuff and everyone will assume you’ve got GREAT stuff to sell.

The biggest problem are those info product marketers who don’t think they’ll be able to think of additional products to sell to make money. If you’ve got plenty of good, solid, useable content, then don’t worry. If you don’t, then be VERY worried.
